Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Core Mechanics
Vietnam adds faction tools and movement options that change how a squad reaches, supports and holds an objective.
Use mechanics for the objective
Tunnels, helicopters, patrol boats, movement and casualty dragging are ways to create or preserve a squad’s position. They are not substitutes for checking the mode, active objective and enemy pressure.
NVA tunnel networks
NVA Tunnels provide a distinct way to move and reinforce. In Patch 1.3, placement cooldown changed to 10 minutes and players cannot travel to a destination while it is hot. Plan placement as a team decision, then protect and recheck the network as the frontline moves.
Helicopters and patrol boats
US helicopters support transport, fire support and supply movement. Both sides can use armed patrol boats across the river network. Before boarding, state the task, destination, fallback and departure plan; a vehicle is most useful when it moves the squad toward the active objective.
Movement and rescue
The official game overview lists swimming, climbing, fast crawling and dragging teammates as live movement and interaction features. Use cover, spacing and the current fight to decide whether to move, recover a casualty or reset; do not expose multiple teammates for a rescue that cannot be completed safely.
